We have been advised to stop some routine work, however, if you have a medical problem then we will still do all we can to help you.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions we do not currently offer routine or advanced face to face consultations with GP's.  If you are unwell and need to make an appointment to see a doctor please telephone the surgery.  Our receptionists will take some details off you and ask a GP/Nurse or Pharmacist to triage your call and either telephone you or arrange a video consultation.  We are advised to avoid all face to face patient contact unless absolutely necessary.  All appointments are 'same day' at present for Doctor.  Do not just attend the surgery in person expecting a consultation unless we phone you or ask you to do so.

Appointments for blood tests and essential routine monitoring with Practice Nurses are still available but please telephone the surgery first to make an appointment.   Do not just attend the surgery in person.  Some chronic disease management i.e. diabetes, asthma, COPD etc will continue to be offered but if possible this may be managed with a telephone consultation or video consultation and not a face to face appointment .

NEW INN PATIENTS SHOULD PRESS OPTION 2 when phoning the surgery, otherwise the phone lines at the Mount will be overwhelmed with calls. During normal New Inn working hours New Inn Surgery is back open so please press option 2 when phoning if you are a New Inn Patient.

You can also phone 111 for health advice and they will advise you if you need to contact your GP  - they also have a website

Home visits will only be carried out for those who are truly housebound (not just due to lack of transport unfortunately). All requests for home visit will be put down for one of the Dr's to phone you back to assess the problem further to find the most suitable way of dealing with the problem, which may NOT be a home visit. All requests for home visits should ideally be made prior to 11.30am each day.

 Standards of Access

Welsh Government has recently launched a new set of standards, which aim to raise and improve the level of service for patients in Wales from their GP practices.  Theses standards will help patients to understand what to expect when they need advice on their health and wellbeing, when they need to consult a GP or other healthcare professional and what other options are available to them.

The new standards are as follows:

People receive a prompt response to their contact with a GP practice via telephone

Practices have the appropriate telephony systems to support the needs of people avoiding the need to call back multiple times and will check that they are handling calls this way

People receive bilingual information on local and emergency services when contacting the practices

People are able to access information on how to get help and advice

People receive the right care at the right time in a joined up way which is based on their needs

People can use a range of options to contact their GP practice

People are able to email a practice to request a non-urgent consultation or a call back

The overall timescale for achieving these standards was March 2021 however due to Covid 19 restrictions this has been deferred and we remain committed to working towards achieving them.
